When was the last time you took a look at your career and thought to yourself that it was the BEST choice you ever made? Do you wake up each morning feeling like you’re excited to get dressed and go into the office? Are you excited about the work that will meet you once you arrive? Or, do you often feel like you’d rather be scrolling your favorite social media platforms or engaging in some other pleasurable hobby for the rest of the day?
My Career and Health Goals Story
Not too long ago, before I was a healthy lifestyle coach I felt like engaging in more pleasurable activities throughout my work day too. I barely wanted to focus on the first 30 minutes of my work day let alone an entire 8 ½ hours. If you’ve followed my healthy lifestyle journey for a while then you know that I dove into a career as a healthy lifestyle coach after having too many consistent days of thinking the best part of my day was feeling great in the cute clothes I got to wear into the office.
When our work becomes unfulfilling and meaningless it often sucks the life out of us and drains our batteries. My batteries were so drained that every day around 3pm I would initiate game playing time with my colleagues. Management allowed us to spend 15 minutes playing a game every day and I attempted to squeeze in another 15 minutes if I could get away with it. After game time I would slowly walk back to my desk and stare at the computer screen again asking myself why I was wasting more meaningless time working there.
After work I would be so mentally and emotionally drained that creating time to exercise and cook a healthy meal was the last thing I wanted to do. So, I can totally relate when ladies tell me that they would prefer not to cook healthy and exercise because their energy level is at 1%. My rigorous exercise used to consist of walking as fast as possible to my car so that I could book out of that parking lot after the work day was over. My healthy food for the day was almost non-existent considering that I frequented the local fast food restaurant almost every single day after I picked my children up from daycare.
When Everything Changed
But one day I decided that I no longer wanted to live a life that was mediocre and I knew that there was more for me. I was in my early 30’s and knew that I could feel more vibrant and have a more fulfilling career if I simply decided to step outside of my comfort zone. Since that corporate job paid me pretty well it was a financial risk for me to follow my dreams. I would be giving up a hefty paycheck and I was very uncertain of how things were going to pan out for me.
Well, I played smart and put some funds to the side and worked on my craft during non-work hours until I just couldn’t take it any longer. In the end, things did pan out for me and now I realize how understanding what your passions are and acting on those passions, whether that be in your career or in your spare time can add so much more vitality to your life. With this renewed sense of purpose and joy you will be more motivated to take care of your mind, body, and soul. Do you know how I know this? I know this because nearly every lady I encounter that discovers her passion, learns how to preserve her energy, and feels fulfilled in her career says that she cannot return to eating poorly, sleeping poorly, and not taking care of her body again. She now has something to compare her life too! These women also discover that they need sufficient energy to carry out their passions. They recognize that they will not get that energy from consuming burgers and fries daily and neglecting physical activity for too long.
The Connection Between a Career Coach and a Healthy Weight
This is why women get excited when they find out that not only am I certified, trained and successful in the health coaching field, but am also experienced and well-trained in career counseling and coaching. Most ladies know the difference between an apple, orange, and a donut. The problem doesn’t stem from knowing the nutrition facts in these items. The problem is not usually FOOD related. The problem is intrinsically related and these challenges are often resolved when a trained counselor can get to the root of these triggers and stressors. I often use cognitive behavioral principles to get to the root of their “food problem” and it works MUCH better than following some generic meal plan guide, detox program, or fitness plan like a robot. I’m helping them transform their entire being from a big picture perspective.
If you are also interested in identifying your career passion, skills, talents, and interests so that you can also revitalize your life and stop living for weekends, holidays and vacations, I’d love to connect with you. You’ll quickly discover that you know exactly what you need to do to move from surviving to thriving. You’ve just been letting fear dictate your actions, or the lack thereof.
I’m excited to see you soar and LOVE life doing things you’ve always wanted to do. Let’s go!
Just take the first step and I promise you that you’ll wonder why you waited so long to step into your purpose! Every lady I’ve coached on this deeper level who was once frustrated, stressed and overwhelmed has said this to themselves and YOU will too!
Thanks for reading! Share with your friends who also need to take the first step to finally believing in themselves and acting on it.

This is a great read! I have been taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. I cut fast food right before I had my daughter in September. I’m always keeping an eye out for healthy alternatives for my favorite dishes. I was very active during my undergraduate studies. I danced (multiple styles) for about 2 hours 3 days out of the week and even more if we had a show or performance coming up. After I graduated, I stopped dancing. I even stopped learning routines from my favorite music videos and there have been some great choreo out there over the years. I loved Beyonce’s recent Coachella performance, so during my “me time,” I’ve been learning the choreo from that. My goal is to be able to do the entire thing. I definitely feel more energized and level-headed now than I ever had since the birth of my first born (and that was 2 years ago).
Very true! I loved the connection between pursuing your passion and fostering a lifestyle to support and motivate it. I can attest to the powerful affect that food has on my body. When I’m not eating right and taking care of myself physically, it messes me up spiritually and mentally as well. I’m less apt to pursue my passions and purpose when I feel drained and simply want to sit around sluggish.
Yes! I always feel better all around when I choose healthier habits. I’m more focused, produce more, have more joyful days, and have the energy to serve more people! 😊
Love it!
Thank you! 😊
It’s all connected! Inspired to see what the outcome will be!!!
Yes! Thank you! 🙂
This is so inspiring, encouraging and challenges everything within me that craves for comfort and mediocrity.I am excited about this journey and I am happy about the support I get to have through it
Thank you! ❤️
This was great! Thanks for the tips💞
You’re very welcome! 😊
Wonderful article! I can clearly see the link between food and stress from the job. Meal prepping is great but when you’re always on the go it’s put on the back burner. I recently made a diet change and I’ve had so much energy and I haven’t found myself sleeping at work lol. Unfortunately, I’ve fallen off this past week but I hope to get back on the right track to live a better life holistically!
Yes! It’s so easy to fall off. But we’re striving for progress, not perfection. Excellent job! 😊
Great article! It’s so true that sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone in order to follow your passion. Right now I am playing it safe, but I plan on pushing my self a little more this year to see where it takes me!
Thank you! I wish you the best with your art endeavors! 😊
Very inspiring!
Thank you! 🙂
